The International Brigade to the rescue!

Long night and ugly restless dreams for myself, Lady Jessica, Medhin, Lisa and Vanessa (in the picture), and basically everyone in Italy as we waited for the final results of the general elections. The results were reversed several times, in a kind of bad Kerry-vs-Bush vibe. But this morning we have a happier end: Unione, the center-left coalition, has a secure majority in the parliament and a narrow one in the senate. This means Berlusconi is not going to be in the government, and this, believe me my friends from abroad, is really good news. And interestingly: we were saved by the senators elected abroad, who are overwhelmingly left-wing. Thank you, Italians of the world! The International Brigade has made a spectacular rescue!

But the country is badly split. This is where everyone, not just your average folk musician, needs to look on to our roots as a guidance to build the future we deserve. This where we really need to ride the wave.
